Why We Created the BMF Founders Club
Building More Than Just a Bigger Gym
Five years ago, BMF Training started in a small, 1,200-square-foot facility.
There was nothing flashy about it.
It wasn't the biggest gym in Huntington Beach.
There weren't endless rows of equipment or massive group classes.
It was simply a place where Coach Aaron and I could do what we loved most—help people become stronger, healthier, and more confident through structured strength and conditioning.
Back then, we had around 40 members.
Just the two of us coaching every session.
What we lacked in space, we made up for in passion, coaching, and a genuine desire to help every person who walked through our doors.
Looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.
Because BMF was never built around a building.
It was built around people.
Sometimes the Best Opportunities Come Disguised as Challenges
Earlier this year, we learned our landlord would be taking back our current space.
At first, it felt like a setback.
Like many small business owners, there were plenty of questions.
"What's next?"
"Can we make this work?"
"Where do we go from here?"
But as we started looking ahead, we realized something.
Maybe this wasn't the end of a chapter.
Maybe it was the beginning of a bigger one.
Our current facility had served us incredibly well, but we were beginning to outgrow it.
There were times when we'd have a full small-group class while Coach Aaron and I were both coaching personal training clients at the same time.
We made it work because our members deserved our best.
But we also knew they deserved more space.
More room to move.
More opportunities to train.
More opportunities for us to coach.
That realization gave us the confidence to take the next step.
This Isn't About Building a Bigger Gym
People have asked me what I'm most excited about with the new facility.
Honestly...
It isn't the extra square footage.
It isn't the new turf.
It isn't the equipment.
What excites me most is what happens inside those walls.
Every additional coaching session.
Every youth athlete.
Every busy parent.
Every beginner who finally gains confidence.
Every family that chooses a healthier lifestyle together.
That's why we're expanding.
Not to become the biggest gym in Huntington Beach.
But to become the place people trust when they want expert coaching from people who genuinely care about them and their goals.
The Best Part Has Never Been the Workouts
One of the biggest surprises over the last five years hasn't been the physical transformations.
It's been the relationships.
We've watched members become lifelong friends.
We've been invited to weddings.
We've coached women through pregnancy.
We've watched children grow up around the gym—and now have the privilege of coaching some of those same kids in our Youth Athletic Development Program.
We've helped athletes prepare for competitions, celebrated personal records, and supported members through some of the hardest seasons of their lives.
Those moments remind us that coaching goes far beyond sets and reps.
The workouts matter.
But the people matter even more.
Why We Created the Founders Club
As we began planning our new facility, we kept asking ourselves one question:
How can we invite our community to be part of this next chapter?
That's how the BMF Founders Club was born.
Yes, it helps us continue building the best training environment possible.
But that's only part of the story.
Founders Club is our way of recognizing the people who believe in what we're building.
The people who understand that this isn't simply another gym.
It's a place where future members will discover confidence.
Where parents will set an example for their children.
Where athletes will chase big goals.
Where beginners will realize they're stronger than they ever imagined.
When someone joins the Founders Club, they're helping create opportunities for people they may never even meet.
Someone who walks through our doors next year—or ten years from now—may completely change the direction of their life because this community chose to invest in something bigger than themselves.
That's what becoming a Founder really means.
What Makes BMF Different?
If you took away our logo...
Our colors...
Our equipment...
Even our building...
I'd still want people to choose BMF.
Why?
Because we've never built our business around fitness trends.
We don't believe in random workouts.
We don't believe in chasing exhaustion for the sake of sweating.
Everything we do is built around legitimate strength and conditioning principles that are sustainable for life.
Every workout has a purpose.
Every member has a plan.
Every coach genuinely cares.
That's what makes BMF different.
Looking Toward the Future
Since becoming a father, my perspective has changed.
I still enjoy chasing performance goals.
I still love training.
But today, my biggest motivation is different.
I want my son, Micah, to grow up believing that taking care of your health is simply part of life.
Not something you start after a diagnosis.
Not something you squeeze in when life gets easier.
Just something you do.
When he reads this one day, I hope he's proud that his mom and dad built something that helped people live healthier lives while doing work they genuinely loved.
Twenty Years From Now
When BMF celebrates its twentieth anniversary, I don't hope people remember the equipment we had.
Or even the building.
I hope they remember how we made them feel.
That we cared.
That we listened.
That we encouraged them.
That we believed in them before they believed in themselves.
I hope they'll say BMF helped them lose weight.
Build strength.
Gain confidence.
Get off medication.
Play with their kids.
Compete in sports.
Age well.
Most importantly...
I hope they'll say fitness became part of their life—not because they had to, but because they learned how to build a healthy relationship with training, nutrition, and movement.
If we've done that, then we've accomplished our mission.
Thank You
It's still hard for me to believe that I get to make a living doing something I truly love.
Helping people change their lives has never felt like work.
It's been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
Whether you've trained with us since day one, joined us recently, supported us from afar, or you're simply reading this because you're curious about BMF...
Thank you.
You have been part of this journey.
And if you choose to become a Founder, know that you're not simply helping us move into a new building.
You're helping create a place where future generations can learn what strength, health, and community truly look like.
Because at BMF Training, we believe everyone deserves to be an athlete.
And together, we're building a place where that belief can change lives for many years to come.
If our mission resonates with you and you'd like to help us build the next chapter of BMF Training while taking the next step in your own health and fitness journey, we'd love to have you become part of our Founders Club.
